A unique elopement in Venice

The writer Truman Capote said Venice is “like eating a whole box of liqueur-flavored chocolate at once.” Italians and foreigners who have chosen Venice for a holiday know this well. But couples who celebrate their wedding in what is considered the City of Love know its charm even better. Maybe it’s for the gondolas, or the lapping of the waters, or for the fact that Venice is like a city-size wedding favor. It could be for all the splendid love stories set here and that we have read in books and movies.

Whatever the reason, more and more spouses are choosing Venice for their special day. Among them today, we want to tell you about a unique elopement in Venice. Rebecca and Russell, accompanied by the magnificent photos taken by Facibeni Photography.

Getting ready in the venue where George Clooney got married

Rebecca and Russell came from the USA and chose the Aman hotel to spend some days in Italy for their unique elopement in Venice.
Getting ready took place in one of the hotel’s splendid suites. They made the “first look” in the hotel gardens.

The groom was elegant, wearing a black suit and matching bow tie. The bride was beautiful in a simple, elegant white slip dress with a small bouquet. Then they carried out a first photo session in the fabulous ancient rooms of the hotel, an ideal setting for the shooting thanks to its antique furniture, chandeliers, paintings, and full-wall mirrors, along with the decorated stairways.

Aman Hotel is a breathtaking place, which makes us understand why George Clooney and his wife Amal chose it as the location for their wedding.

A Wedding Ceremony at a Venetian secret garden

Our bride and groom then boarded a Venetian taxi, a charming wooden boat typical of the Venetian lagoon, to head to the location chosen for the ceremony, a small secret garden hidden among the buildings of the city of love. Even on the boat, they continued to take photos that made the moment’s beauty real in an authentically Venetian context, thanks to the natural background of the buildings, bridges, canals, and gondolas.

Once they arrived at the garden, they selected to celebrate their unique elopement in Venice. They had a romantic symbolic ceremony under a leaf porch supported by four ancient columns. They swore eternal love, exchanged rings, and took the first photos as newlyweds while they celebrated with a toast and some appetizers, between relaxed smiles and firmly joined hands.

All this is the real essence of a unique elopement in Venice

When Becky and Russell arrived at Piazza San Marco, however, they found a Dolce & Gabbana fashion show, an event with an international parterre, with Vips such as Jennifer Lopez. WOW!
Taking a boat, they could reach the small San Giorgio’s island, right in front of San Marco. From here, they could have a fantastic photo shoot at sunset, without too many tourists around, and enjoy the show of traditional boats of the show set up.

Romantic dinner at a luxury Hotel along the Gran Canal in Venice

With the last boat ride, after a quick change of clothes for Becky, the newlyweds enjoyed a celebratory dinner at a luxury restaurant overlooking the Church of the Redentore. As sometimes happen for a wedding, you can predict everything but the weather, so a typical summer rain prevented Becky and Russell from dining outside. Fortunately, the evening continued pleasantly, thanks to a delicious culinary experience. It concluded by cutting their mini wedding cake inside the restaurant, feeding each other only with their hands, as in the best tradition.
